Wildlife Division: Problem Animals Control

Problem Animals Control

Problem animals control is a major challenge facing communities living adjacent to Protected Areas. To overcome this challenge Wildlife Division has established a unit responsible in controlling problem animals in Tanzania. Experience shows that the most problem animals include Elephant, Lion, and Crocodile, Primates, Bush pig and Hippo.

From the year 2008 to 2010, Wildlife Division spent a total of Tshs 130,000,000/= for consolation to 1,300 individuals of which their farms with an area of 3590.72 acres were destroyed by wild animals.  A total of Tshs 23,000,000/= was paid as consolation to the relatives of 115 people who were killed by dangerous animals.
